I'm Brandon Nguyen, a neuroscience student at the University of Virginia on the pre-med track. I grew up thinking science and writing were separate languages. They're not — they just share an uneasy border, and I'm interested in what lives there.

This site is where I write. Essays tend toward the analytical: how the brain makes predictions, what fMRI can and can't tell us, why medicine is as much a humanistic discipline as a technical one. Poetry is something else entirely — shorter, less interested in argument, more interested in what can't be said directly.

I'm also a builder. I make things when making helps me understand something, which is most of the time.
